How to Cope with Change

“Change has taught me many lessons.  I resisted and had difficult time when

my Mother passed away.  I’m learning to adjust use to the empty nest of my sons

moving out on their own.  I felt disappointed when a big speaking contact was

canceled.  I was surprised to see in December my favorite neighborhood

bakery/coffee shop go out of business.  My body has changed with age and time.

Old friends have left and new friends have enriched my life.

What used to be so important, no longer seems SO important.

What used to be so insignificant, now seems SO significant.

Change is something I have learned to endure and enjoy.

Change is not always fair, convenient, predictable or controlled.

You cannot always choose the changes that come your way. But you can always

choose your response.  Whether you are facing; an empty nest, life after

divorce, a new city, change in your health, or a change in your job location, policy

and procedures, change in weather or a change of heart from a friend/lover/spouse,

learn to adapt rather than be a victim of change.”  ~ Jewel Diamond Taylor

“You cannot step twice into the same river, for other waters are continually flowing in.”  ca. 500 BCE ~ Heraclitus

“If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.

Don't complain.”  ~ Maya Angelou

“Change has considerable psychological impact on the human mind.

If you are fearful, change is threatening because it means that things may get worse.

If you are hopeful, change is encouraging because things may get better.

If you are confident, change is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.”

                      ~ King Whitney, Jr.

”Change yourself and your work will seem different.
Change your thoughts and you change your world.”  ~ Norman Vincent Peale

“Change. It has the power to uplift, to heal, to stimulate, surprise, open new doors,

bring fresh experience and create excitement in life. Certainly it is worth the risk.” ~ Leo Buscaglia

“Everything must change, nothing  and no one stays the same.”  Popular song

“The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are

feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled.  For it is only in such

moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts

and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” ~ M. Scott Peck

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent,

but the one most responsive to change.”  ~ Charles Darwin

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. ~  Ecclesiastes 3

If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.
